The new Sunday farmer's market on Clement Street is off to a booming start. Despite foggy wet weather, the market's opening day on June 23rd was thronged and many market vendors were sold out by noon, and Clement Street shops and restaurants saw increased business as well, according to the RichmondSF blog.
The Clement Street Farmers Market is a 6-week pilot program to try out the idea; it will operate every Sunday this summer, from June 23 to August 25, closing Clement Street to traffic between 2nd & 4th Aves from 7:00am to 3:30pm, with the market operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm.
According to RichmondSF, the market is being run by the Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM), which currently runs other markets at Stonestown, Civic Center, and in other Bay Area locations. The Clement Street farmer’s market will feature a wide range of local products, including eggs, milk, cheeses, meats, plus children activities, and live music. The market will also provide matching dollars for “food stamp” users, and additional bike parking.
The Muni #2 bus will be re-routed to California Street during market hours.
