Arguello Boulevard Safety Project: Community Walkthrough 1/28

Arguello Boulevard is an active and important connection in the Inner Richmond District. The Arguello corridor carries thousands of San Francisco residents every day, whether they are walking to Rossi Playground, dropping students off at Roosevelt Middle School, riding the 33 MUNI bus line, or biking to the Golden Gate Bridge.

The SFMTA has been working with District Supervisor Eric Mar to address community input on safety for people walking and biking on Arguello Boulevard. Supervisor Mar provided funding for the SFMTA to explore safety improvements at specific locations that were identified by the Inner Richmond community. The SFTMA expects to implement roadway striping changes in late 2016.

This will be an opportunity to ask questions about the project and to see how the proposed changes will improve safety for people walking and biking on Arguello Boulevard. SFMTA staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide project information.

Richmond District Strategy — share your perspective on the neighborhood

The Richmond District Strategy is a collaboration between Supervisor Mar's Office and the San Francisco Planning Department. This process will provide a comprehensive understanding of the District's current trends, needs, and opportunities. The goal is to create a vision for the future of District 1 to ensure a sustainable and high quality of life for current and future generations who live, work and visit District 1.

The first of a three-part analysis, the Existing Conditions Report describes the current trends and conditions in the District. The Community Needs Analysis will include the perspectives of the people who live, work and visit the neighborhood. The final phase will identify opportunities and recommend solutions to help shape the future of the neighborhood.

If you live, work or visit the Richmond neighborhoods, take a few minutes to share your point of view by taking the Community Needs Assessment Survey. Your feedback will help planners better understand the community's issues and needs.

Geary Corridor Citizens Advisory Committee needs you!

The Geary BRT Citizens Advisory Committee (GCAC) meets every two to three months to advise the San Francisco County Transportation Authority throughout the project's planning and environmental analysis phase. The GCAC consists of thirteen members, representing corridor and at-large interests. It provides input on refining BRT alternatives, considering project benefits and impacts for all users of the corridor, developing mitigation strategies, and identifying a preferred alternative.

There are six upcoming vacancies on the GCAC, all interested persons are invited to apply. The Transportation Authority Board will be considering the incumbent GCAC members and new applicants to fill these vacancies. GCAC members are expected to attend all meetings.

Applications are due on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. The application is available on the GCAC webpage and can be submitted electronically.

Friends of the Urban Forest Community Planting Day June 6

Friends of the Urban Forest is coming to the Richmond! FUF has funding to subsidize 75% of the costs to plant trees in our neighborhood and are planning a Community Planting Day for Saturday, June 6th.

You only need to pay $135 per tree and FUF will:

• handle all the permitting, utilities checks and concrete removal
• do an assessment visit at your location and recommend a species
• provide the tree itself
• do 2 follow-up care visits over the first 2 years of the tree’s life
