Arguello Boulevard Safety Project: Community Walkthrough 1/28

Arguello Boulevard is an active and important connection in the Inner Richmond District. The Arguello corridor carries thousands of San Francisco residents every day, whether they are walking to Rossi Playground, dropping students off at Roosevelt Middle School, riding the 33 MUNI bus line, or biking to the Golden Gate Bridge.

The SFMTA has been working with District Supervisor Eric Mar to address community input on safety for people walking and biking on Arguello Boulevard. Supervisor Mar provided funding for the SFMTA to explore safety improvements at specific locations that were identified by the Inner Richmond community. The SFTMA expects to implement roadway striping changes in late 2016.

This will be an opportunity to ask questions about the project and to see how the proposed changes will improve safety for people walking and biking on Arguello Boulevard. SFMTA staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide project information.

Outside Lands Festival returns Aug 7-9

It's Big Event Season in Golden Gate Park, starting with Outside Lands on August 7-9. PAR has been working closely with event organizers Another Planet Entertainment, the SF Police Department, SF Municipal Transportation Agency, Recreation & Parks Dept, Dept of Pubic Works, and Supervisor Eric Mar to prepare for this big event and address community concerns like parking and traffic and noise.

Again this year, Another Planet will have a Community Hotline to respond to any issues that may arise during the festival. The festival hotline will be available from 10:00am – 11:00PM on the festival days (starting on Thursday afternoon). The hotline number is 415-872-1650.

To help alleviate vehicle congestion in our neighborhood, festival promoters are strongly encouraging patrons to take alternative means of transportation to the festival, including MUNI, private shuttles, biking or walking. There will be 2 dedicated tow trucks and 1 Parking Control Officer on each side of the Park to quickly respond to any blocked driveways or any other parking issues related to the Festival. Rec & Park has printed signs alerting attendees to not block driveways, which may be obtained at the front desk of McLaren Lodge at 501 Stanyan St. If you need to have a vehicle towed please call the SFMTA directly at 415-553-1200 (select language, then option #5).

Geary Corridor Citizens Advisory Committee needs you!

The Geary BRT Citizens Advisory Committee (GCAC) meets every two to three months to advise the San Francisco County Transportation Authority throughout the project's planning and environmental analysis phase. The GCAC consists of thirteen members, representing corridor and at-large interests. It provides input on refining BRT alternatives, considering project benefits and impacts for all users of the corridor, developing mitigation strategies, and identifying a preferred alternative.

There are six upcoming vacancies on the GCAC, all interested persons are invited to apply. The Transportation Authority Board will be considering the incumbent GCAC members and new applicants to fill these vacancies. GCAC members are expected to attend all meetings.

Applications are due on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. The application is available on the GCAC webpage and can be submitted electronically.
