Celebrate National Trails Day with Rec and Park This Saturday!
On Saturday, June 4, the Sutro Stewards will host a trail and habitat stewardship event in celebration of the American Hiking Society's 19th annual National Trails Day.® The event will be held on Mount Sutro in two adjoining open space areas-- the UCSF Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve and the SF Recreation and Parks Interior Greenbelt. Volunteers will perform stewardship activities from 9AM-12:30 PM, followed by a celebration to mark the reopening of the Interior Greenbelt and a newly restored half-mile segment of trail that originates at Stanyan Street in Cole Valley and connects to the UCSF trail network. The trail originates from the late 1880s and is a significant link to San Francisco's past running through one of the lushest park areas within the City.

Though days old, the baby swan is not afraid to get her feathers ruffled, Hagerty said. Martha is already very active and spends her days swimming in the lagoon...But like most new parents, Blue Boy and Blanche keep a watchful eye over their cygnet."
