Bring the kids to color in pictures of birds that live in Golden Gate Park. Project 1: The SF Public Utilities Commission is planning to locate a water treatment factory near the Murphy windmill. The proposed buildings will cover 40,000 square feet and be up to 30 feet high; more land will be required for the landscaping as well as paving, parking, and night lighting. Additional land will be impacted by removal of over 130 trees and future expansion and security needs. See www.goldengateparkpreservation.org Project 2: Beach Chalet Athletic Fields project. This project will destroy over 55 trees and 7 acres of natural grass, and replace the grass with artificial grass, crumb rubber and gravel. It will also add massive 60 foot sports lights to the western end of Golden Gate Park, right across the Great Highway from Ocean Beach, with a negative impact on wildlife and the beauty of the Park and Ocean Beach. We support youth soccer on natural grass! Do you prefer natural grass? Would you like a great natural grass field for everyone to play on in Golden Gate Park? Stop by our tables. www.sfoceanedge.org

Youth are ages 6-18 and the program is free of cost to youth and their families. A unique feature of Building Futures is the therapeutic paraprofessional training mentors receive prior to being matched.
