Presidio: McDowell Avenue Closed Nov 30 to Dec 11

Beginning Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 11, McDowell Avenue will be closed for utility relocation activities. This activity will impact Muni service and the PresidiGo Around the Park Shuttle service.

Specifically, Muni route 29 will not be available on:

• McDowell Avenue
• Eastbound Mason Street between Crissy Field Avenue and Halleck Street
• Southbound Halleck Street
• Westbound Lincoln Boulevard between McDowell and Crissy Field Avenue

The PresidioGo Around The Park route stops 6, 7 and 8 will not be available.

Access to the U.S. Park Police Stables and the Park Archives building will be provided via Lincoln Boulevard to McDowell Avenue.

New National Cemetery Overlook at the Presidio: Special Events this Saturday, November 14

The newest scenic overlook at the Presidio is now open to the public. National Cemetery Overlook honors all military personnel for their service to our nation. Events commemorating the new Overlook include

"Open House" at the Overlook'

Saturday, November 14, 10 am to 2 pm

Meet the designers who shaped this contemplative destination, and learn about the history of the oldest national cemetery on the west coast. Park at the Presidio Officers' Club (50 Moraga Avenue) and catch a shuttle to the site. Shuttles pick up every 10 minutes from 9:50 am to 1:30 pm. NO parking available at the Overlook.

Overlook Hike on the Bay Area Ridge Trail

Saturday, November 14, 11 am to 1 pm

Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Bay Area Ridge Trail by enjoying a 2.5 mile walk that will make stops at Inspiration Point, Immigrant Point, and the new National Cemetery Overlook. After you visit National Cemetery Overlook, move on to the Presidio Officers' Club for the Opening Ceremony celebrating a new exhibition at the Presidio - Prejudice and Patriotism: The Story of Japanese Americans in the Military Intelligence Service, 1941-1952.

Sutro Park Volunteer Cleanup Saturday, Nov 14 at 9am

The next Sutro Slope Stewardship Day will be Saturday, November 14th from 9-12 noon. Plans are to work on tree branches felled by contracted tree trimmers, as well as pushing westward to open up the area for views and access. What: Water Supply Diversity Program Informational Open House

The San Francisco Public Utility Commission is doing outreach on their plan to mix ground water with Hetch Hetchy for drinking water and to use recycled water for irrigation. Plans for a desalination project are also in the works.
