REMINDER: Public Hearing, October 1 on Proposed Banquet Hall at 34th and Balboa Street.

A reminder that the hearing before the SF Planning Commission on the proposed Banquet Hall at 34th and Balboa will be heard at City Hall shortly after 1:30 pm. People will be allowed 3 minutes to speak in favor of or in opposition to this proposed facility.

City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place

There will MEETING TONIGHT, TUESDAY, September 29th, at 6:30pm of people who have concerns about the impact of banquet hall events on adjacent residences, businesses, and schools.

3301 Balboa Street (cross street 34th)

The meeting will be in the last classroom on the first floor.

Nominations Still Open for Neighborhood Empowerment Network Awards – Through October 20th

What: The 2009 NEN Awards

When: Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Where: San Francisco City Hall

The Neighborhood Empowerment Network (NEN) Awards returns on Wednesday, November 18th, to celebrate work by grassroots leaders and organizations to change San Francisco's neighborhoods.

This year, many of the awards handed out last year will return and a few new ones have been added. They include

• Best Neighborhood Organization Website
• Best GraffitiWatch Volunteer Award
• Best Community Building Event
• Best Community Challenge Grant Project
• Comeback Neighborhood of the Year

Visit the 2009 NEN Awards nomination website and nominate the individuals, organizations, and projects that you feel deserve to be recognized with a 2009 NEN Award.

The nomination window closes at 5pm on Tuesday, October 20^th.

UPDATE: Public Hearing on Banquet Hall on Balboa Street rescheduled for October 1

The public hearing for a permit to operate a Banquet Hall at 3255 Balboa Street at 34th Avenue has been rescheduled to October 1.  This site is the former location of the Institute for Religious Science.

If the permit is approved, the banquet hall will be used for parties and events for up to 150 people.  Events will be catered (food and drink, including alcoholic beverages) and will have music.  Valet parking service is proposed, with cars shuttled to the vacant lot at Balboa and 36th Avenue.

TIME:    1:30 pm

Where: SF City Hall

Ten days prior to the hearing, there will be a sign posted on the building and letters sent out to all the concerned neighbors inviting everyone to attend the hearing.  No matter your position, interested neighbors -- including residents and small businesses -- are invited to express their views.

There will be a neighborhood meeting to discuss the proposed Banquet Hall to be located at 3255 Balboa Street.

This is just across the street from the proposed business. The meeting will be held in the last classroom on the first floor.

CLOSURE OF RAMPS TO SOUTHBOUND HWY 1/PARK PRESIDIO, September 12-13 from 5:30-11:30 a.m.

 

The off-ramps from Highway 101/Doyle Drive to southbound Highway 1/Park Presidio Boulevard will be closed this Saturday and Sunday from 5:30-11:30 a.m.

This is the second round of four weekend morning ramp closures necessary to safely conduct tree removal adjacent to the ramps in preparation for construction of the Doyle Drive replacement.

Northbound Highway 1 to the Golden Gate Bridge and southbound Highway 1 in San Francisco will remain open. Those traveling from the North Bay to the San Francisco International Airport should use Highway 101.

Remaining morning weekend ramp closures are September 19-20 and September 26-27.
