Because it will be partially financed with federal "economic stimulus funds", the reconstruction of Doyle Drive will be starting next month and, although anticipated to take about three and a half years, it is expected to unfold very, very rapidly. The overall project will be under the supervision of Caltrans.
Caltrans has engaged Centerpoint to help get the word out about construction schedules, road closures, and detours among other issues surrounding the implementation of this project that may affect members of the public using that and neighboring roadways.
At last week's meeting of the Neighborhood Associations for Presidio Planning (NAPP), representatives of Caltrans and Centerpoint made their first power point presentation on that impending project. The presentation, initially planned to last no more than fifteen minutes, contained so much information and generated so many questions that it took almost one hour and it still had to be terminated prematurely because of time constraints.
Because of the urgency of this information to residents of the Richmond District and others who frequently use Doyle Drive and surrounding roads and because the agenda for PAR's July 15th general membership meeting is already extremely tight, PAR members will simply be informed of Caltrans/Centerpoint's first public informational meeting on that subject scheduled for:
