Public Comment Period for Presidio Main Post Extended to June 1

Please note that the Presidio Trust has extended the public comment period for Main Post planning to June 1, 2009.

Additionally, the Trust has scheduled a public workshop for April 22 on the topic of Transportation. Details are below.

Main Post Planning Workshop April 22

Main Post Planning Workshop: Transportation

Wednesday, April 22, 6:30 p.m.

Golden Gate Club, 135 Fisher Loop

In response to public requests for a different meeting format, the Presidio Trust will replace the April 16 meeting with a meeting on April 22 that will provide an overview of the transportation issues being analyzed through the Main Post planning process. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about transportation issues.

Sunday Streets SF 2009

Due to the positive response to the two inaugural Sunday Street events in 2008, Sunday Streets is proposed to expand to six Sundays through the fall of 2009. Final approval of these dates and routes is subject to city departmental approval.

Planned Sunday Streets 2009 routes include:

1. Sunday, April 26: Waterfront Route running along the Embarcadero—from AT&T Park to Aquatic

Park.

2. Sunday, May 10: Waterfront Route in the Southeast Sector, highlighting the San Francisco Bay

Trail, which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in May. From AT&T Park to the Bayview Opera

House, along the Bay.

3. Sunday, June 7: New route for 2009 through the Mission, engaging new neighborhoods in the

Sunday Streets movement.

4. Sunday, July 19: Same route through Mission.

5. Sunday, August 9: Great Highway Route. Connecting Golden Gate Park to the San Francisco

Zoo, along Ocean Beach.

6. Sunday, Sept 6: Same route along the Great Highway.

Sunday Streets in 2009 is presented by the Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA). The Mayor's Office and MTA are working with a broad coalition of community groups to make this effort a success. Livable City, a registered non-profit 501(c)3 organization, is the Fiscal Sponsor of Sunday Streets. Clear Channel and other media companies are pro-bono partners to help build awareness of these events.

Presidio Main Post Planning – April 16 Meeting Cancelled

The Presidio Trust has cancelled the Main Post Public Meeting that was to be held on Thursday, April 16, at 6 pm at the Golden Gate Club. There will be no meeting on that date.

 

Future meeting dates will be announced at www.presidio.govas soon as the information becomes available.

Background

The Presidio Trust has released for public comment draft documents that describe the "preferred alternative" for revitalizing the Main Post as the park's cultural and civic center. Proposals for the Main Post include a center for Presidio heritage and archaeology, rehabilitation of the Presidio Theater, an addition to the Presidio Chapel, a museum of contemporary art, and a park lodge. The plan also includes improvements to circulation and parking. We invite your participation and comments in this planning process. The Trust is hosting open houses at the Main Post Information Center where staff will be on hand to answer questions about the plan and the process (Fridays and Saturdays 10 am to Noon through April 18 in Building 105 on Montgomery Street).
